  • Role Objective (About the Job): The Electrical Certified MV/HV Jointer is responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of MV/HV electrical cables and associated equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.
  • Location: Uganda / Tanzania
  • Contract Type: Full-time

Project Overview
Supporting a major Midstream development located onshore in Uganda and Tanzania with an offshore (nearshore) component comprising the Marine Storage and Export Terminal (MST). The project involves the installation and commissioning of facilities for the pipeline transportation, storage, and export of crude oil to the coast of Tanzania. Crude oil blends are treated and stabilized at Central Processing Facilities (CPFs) prior to pipeline transportation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out MV/HV cable jointing & terminations up to 132kV (AWA/SWA, XLPE, MDPE cables).
  • Perform industrial electrical installations for medium & high voltage systems.
  • Execute heat shrink, cold shrink, and separable connector terminations for MV & HV cables.
  • Test and troubleshoot MV/HV cables using Megger, VLF, Hi-pot, and other specialized tools.
  • Follow strict safety procedures including lockout-tagout (LOTO) and compliance with electrical codes and site protocols.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, SLDs, schematics, cable schedules, and layout drawings.
  • Collaborate with site teams to resolve quality issues and ensure project completion as per specifications.
  • Support troubleshooting of faults in wiring, circuits, or equipment during construction and system energization.
  • Prepare field documentation including cable checklists, installation logs, and pre-commissioning test reports.
  • Maintain proper storage, identification, and handling of tools, test equipment, and materials on site.
  • Identify and report technical issues, material discrepancies, or site obstructions to the Electrical Supervisor/Engineer.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades to coordinate installations in shared areas.
  • Provide support in the execution of electrical construction activities within the bounds of discipline competency.

Key Requirements
  • Electrical Engineering degree and completed apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in MV/HV cable testing and Electrical Commissioning related activities.
  • Ability to read & interpret electrical single-line, schematic, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience on high voltage distribution equipment.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Competency in English (IELTS 6.5 / TOEFL 79–93 beneficial).
  • Strong work ethic, teamwork, and safety mindset.
  • Physically fit and able to work in remote locations.
